We thought it might be useful to provide you with a few tips to hopefully make the first few months (at least!) a little more manageable.

Rest while they’re resting

Although new bubs will spend a lot of hours sleeping throughout the day, it’ll more than likely be little bits at a time. To help battle total sleep deprivation, have a lie-down whenever they do. Even if you don’t fall asleep, a bit of quiet time lying down will do you a world of good.

Be prepared every time you leave the house

Even if it’s just for a half-hour walk to the shops and back, you never know what may happen. The last thing you want is to be stuck in a ‘poonami’ situation without the equipment to handle it! Pack extra clothes, nappies, wipes, a towel, and a favourite toy.

Go with their flow

It may be tempting to push an eating and sleeping schedule on your baby – instead, let them guide how things go. They may need more feeds than you think, especially in the first few months. Also, if they’re not responding well to a certain way you’re trying to feed or put them to sleep, try some alternative methods. Every baby is different, so advice you got from another mum may not be relevant for your little one.

Comforting kids with a cold

Did you know that due to their still-developing immune systems, children can get colds up to 10 times a year1? Here’s how you can make the experience as painless as possible (for both of you!):

1. Keep them hydrated
2. Provide plenty of cuddles
3. Distraction through games, activities, stories, etc.
