Minor skin conditions consultation
TerryWhite Chemmart Pharmacists at participating pharmacies in New South Wales and Victoria now offer care for patients experiencing select minor skin conditions. Our minor skin conditions consultation provides eligible patients with expert advice, assessment and treatment - all without needing to see a doctor.
Simply speak with one of our specially trained Pharmacists, who can assess your symptoms and, if appropriate, provide treatment.
Minor skin conditions consultation (eligibility in NSW & VIC)
Eligibility for treatment by a NSW Pharmacist
Specially trained Pharmacists can provide care for the following minor skin conditions:
- Aged 18 years and older for shingles (herpes zoster)
- Aged 2 years to 65 years for impetigo (school sores)
- Aged 2 years to 65 years for a flare-up of mild to moderate eczema (atopic dermatitis) – must be previously diagnosed by a doctor
- Aged 18 years and older for a flare-up of mild plaque psoriasis – must be previously diagnosed by a doctor
Eligibility for treatment by a VIC Pharmacist
You may be eligible for Pharmacist care if you are:
- Aged 18 years and older for shingles (herpes zoster)
- Aged 18 years and older for a flare-up of mild plaque psoriasis – must be previously diagnosed by a doctor
- Aged 2 years and older for impetigo (school sores)
Your Pharmacist will assess your symptoms, medical history and any previous diagnoses to determine if treatment is appropriate.
If your condition is outside the scope of this service, you may be referred to a GP or other healthcare provider.
Cost of consultation
The total cost of your consultation includes a professional service fee based on the duration of your appointment, plus the cost of any treatments provided.
The default appointment duration is 15 minutes, though depending on your condition, your appointment may take longer.
Your Pharmacist will assess your condition and discuss costs at the beginning of your appointment.
Consultation fees*
- Initial consultation (10–20 minutes) – $36.70
- Long consultation (over 20 minutes) – $70.50
- Follow-up consultation (under 10 minutes) – $19.50
*In Victoria, consultations are free of charge. However, the medication provided under the Community Pharmacist Program is not subsidised.
Patients receiving treatment from Pharmacists will need to pay the full medication cost.
Treatment costs
If treatment is provided, the cost of any prescribed or recommended medicines will be added to your consultation fee. These are charged as private prescriptions, as they are not subsidised under the PBS when supplied directly by a Pharmacist.

When should I see a GP instead?
You may be referred to a GP if:
- You are outside the eligible age range
- Your symptoms are severe, recurring or complex
- You are pregnant or immunocompromised
- You have not responded to previous treatments
- You have allergies to recommended medications
